Getting to know Steve
Something that makes you happy
The smell of dusty old books, my daughter baby talking to the cats, long trail runs
Something that annoys you
software updates, having to match socks after doing laundry, cat fur in my food
Cats or dogs... or both... or sloths
(see previous question) I have two purebred maine coon cats... they were expensive and flown in from other states. Yep, I'm a fancy cat guy...
Something crazy you've done (jumped out of a plane, street luge, etc)
Jumping out of a plane was probably most dangerous, but running with the bulls in Pamplona was a totally wild experience.
Something you're good at
Trying new things. I've had more one month hobbies than I care to admit
Something you're terrible at
Sports involving sticks and/or balls. Yeah, don't ask me to golf, it's not pretty.
Favorite way to waste time
I do enjoy a good video game.
Dream travel destination
Mars? Or something more earthbound and realistic, an African safari is on my bucket list. I wanna see some elephants in the wild before poachers get them all...
Random factoid about you (e.g. you share a birthday with your dog or you once got kicked out of an opera)
I once had a former Mr. America tell me I had nice calves.
You find yourself in jail - what was your crime?
Probably reliving my adolescence with old friends, tipping portapotties in our neighborhood park
If in the last question you were on death row, what would your last meal be?
Desert island album (i.e. if you could only listen to one album forever, what would it be?)
Smashing Pumpkins Meloncollie and the Infinite Sadness. I had a Billy Corgan obsession growing up (plus its a double album...)
Desert Island movie and/or TV show
Star Trek the next generation. Grew up watching it, might as well go out watching it.
Something you geek out on (sports, Star Wars, music, etc)
Languages. And I probably know more about blackjack than anybody you've ever met...
Favorite fictional character and why
Ignatius Reilly from Confederacy of Dunces. Brilliant but crazy, lazy and flatulent, and funny for all the wrong reasons)
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Perfect recall? Knowledge is power, right?
Favorite memory with your fiancé
With my wife anyway. Honestly it's probably the first time we really hung out outside of school (we met in high school). She was playing indoor soccer and I went to one of the games. Afterward we sat outside in the bed of my little pickup truck and just talked for who knows how long. Everything just clicked. For all the things I'm sure I've forgotten in the ~16years since, that night is pretty vivid.
Before I die, I want to... (be rich, cure cancer, see my kids grow up, get revenge on the guy that cut me off this morning, etc.)
Now we're getting deep, eh? I have a ton of things I want to do... Stuff I can control - Visit all 50 states and all 7 continents. I haven't found a better way to get to know the world (or myself) than seeing new places, cultures and people. I've been lucky to have been able to travel a lot already... so four states to go, and two continents to go. (Antarctica is kinda tough...) On a different level, I want to see my kids grow up, and do everything I can to help them be good and decent human beings.
